Apopka Run Club is a community run group open to all levels. πŸƒβ€β™€οΈ πŸƒ 🐻
Unless noted on the Facebook event page, we do timed out and backs. This way everyone can go at their own pace and not have to worry about keeping up or slowing down. We have quite a few opportunities for you to run with us, as we meet four times a week.

Below are some common courses that Apopka Run Club use. With the exception of Saturday, (when we often like to change up our location and sometimes meet up with other run groups), meet up starting locations are always the same. That said, we encourage to confirm meeting time and location on our facebook group.

Note that:

  • Not all Saturday courses are listed - just the common reoccurring ones.

  • Start times are not listed below, as our start time is contingent upon sunrise/sunset and the time of the year. For specific start times, please refer to our event calendar (updated monthly). As always, please bring weather appropriate gear such as head lamps or rain gear when needed.

  • Since we do timed out and backs and all run/walk levels are welcomed, the entire course displayed may not be used during your run; the courses below may be more/less than what you cover.

Tuesday/Sunday Course
Location: Fifth Street Plaza - Downtown Apopka (40-54 E. 5th. Street, Apopka, FL 32703)
What to expect: Paved, mostly flat course, very few vehicle traffic interactions (there is one intersection at 2nd street just before Kit Nelson Park to be mindful of as traffic does NOT stop). Course does not run parallel to any roads for the first two miles so is relatively quiet. At the one mile mark, there is a hill which can be deceivingly challenging, yet fun. Many runners lovingly refer to this as β€œEffthis Hill”. The course is mostly unshaded for the first 3/4 mile, but then becomes shaded the rest of the way.
This run is considered a social run – on Tuesdays it is not uncommon for runners to stick around for trivia, beer, and/or pizza at Three Odd Guys/Apopka Pizza. Tuesday often yields the the highest participation turn out. On Sunday, depending on the start time, runners typically enjoy coffee, breakfast, and/or mimosas at Propagate Social house (early run) and/or pizza and beer at Three Odd Guys (afternoon run). Sunday is often considered a more casual run day and it’s not uncommon to see people enjoying a walk or recovery run with each other.

Friday Course
Location: Sand Lake Parking Lot - Wekiwa Springs State Park (1800 Wekiwa Cir, Apopka, FL 32712)
What to expect: (unless opting to do a self guided trail run) Paved course with gentle rolling hills along the way. There are little to no vehicle traffic interactions. Weather is typically cooler (sometimes by 10 degrees) and there is plenty of tree coverage. Runners almost always see wildlife such as deer or turkey. Since we meet before the park opens, a pass/gate code is required to participate in this run; contact any one on the ARC board for information. Since it’s a Friday morning and many have to scurry off to work, most runners do not stick around afterwards, but some do head over to the spring for a refreshing dip.

Saturday Morning Series : Native Juice Course
Location: Native Health And Juice Bar (1466 Rock Springs Rd, Apopka, FL 32712)
What to expect: Paved, mostly flat and shaded course with low traffic interactions along the way. We often rotate which direction (North or South) we plan to go. Please note that this course is pretty popular and we share the path with other pedestrians and bicyclists.

Saturday Morning Series & Kids Take Over : Northwest Recreation Complex Course
Location: Native Health And Juice Bar (1466 Rock Springs Rd, Apopka, FL 32712)
What to expect: Paved, mostly flat closed loop with NO vehicle interaction around a scenic lake. Unless deviating onto any of the side roads, the course is a 0.9 mile loop. Some runners include a path around the amphitheater to add an extra hill challenge and make the course one full mile. Since this is not a straight out/back course, runners will often continue around the loop as many times as they can for the full hour. There is also an exercise station along the course where a few runners stop to do core/muscle work. While kids are always welcome at ARC meet ups, on the last Saturday of the month, we host a β€œKids Take Over”, where kids of every age are encouraged to come out and join the fun! The host often brings snacks, drinks, and games/balls for fun after the run. Feel free to bring your own after run amusement to share.

Saturday Morning Series: Seminole-Wekiva Trail Course
Location: Starbucks Parking Lot (1195 Spring Centre S Blvd, Altamonte Springs, FL 32714)
What to expect: Paved, mostly flat and shaded course with low traffic interactions along the way. We often rotate which direction (North or South) we plan to go. Please note that this course is pretty popular and we share the path with other pedestrians and bicyclists.
